Gingerbread / S03E11
One night, Buffy's mom discovers two dead children at a playground. She becomes obsessed with the crime and forms MOO, Mothers Opposed to the Occult. They have Giles' books confiscated so he can't do research (Giles yelling at the computer is hilarious!).
People die in Sunnydale all the time so why do all the adults care so much about these kids?
It turns out the kids are a demon who comes to tear apart towns. In the form of little kids, he brainwashes the parents and has them burn the "witches" (Buffy, Willow, Amy) at the stake.
Giles and Cordelia save the day as Oz and Xander have a male bonding moment attempting to save everyone.
Helpless / S03E12
Buffy's 18th Birthday is coming up. She is losing her powers!!
It turns out, Buffy has to undergo a slayer test. Giles weakens her by hypnotizing her and then drugging her. In her weakened state, she has to fight a vampire named Kralik without her powers. She'll either die or win.
Kralik overpowers his captors, kidnaps Buffy's mom and lures Buffy to the fight. Giles breaks the rules by telling Buffy what is happening - she is devastated by his betrayal.
In the end, Buffy kills Kralik by putting Holy Water in his glass.
Cliffhanger: Giles is fired.
