This Harry Potter movie was truly great.
The first 3/4ths of
the movie is pretty light-hearted, with serious moments quickly
brightened by humor. And this is where the director shows his love for
the characters--- all of the characters, including some of the minor
ones.
I honestly really enjoyed that portion of the movie and was a little sad when it took a more serious turn. But I thought the transition from humorous movie to serious movie was smooth. The director stopped with all the jokes and got serious about Harry's efforts to collect the 7 horcruxes that hold Voldemort's soul.
The only thing I didn't like about this movie was Lavender, Ron's
girlfriend. The actor overdid it. The way she was smitten with Ron kept
me wondering whether she'd been hit by a love potion for him or
something. While everyone else was acting like they had normal teen-age
hormones, Lavender behaved like Ron did when he had a love potion.
It ranks as my second favorite Harry Potter movie -- Number One being Prisoner of Azkaban.
