S05E12 Flashbacks: Baby Ben meets Widmore, who has aged since we last saw him on the island in 1954. Alpert has not aged. Ben
raids Danielle’s tent with orders to kill her, but discovers she has a
baby. Takes the baby from the woman and tells her “Everytime you hear
whispers, you run the other way”. Turns out Ben defied orders- Widmore
wanted him to kill Danielle and baby Alex. Ben evokes “What Would Jacob
Do?” (That needs to be my new bumper sticker: WWJD!!) Ben
sends Widmore packing because he “broke the rules”. Widmore left the
island a whole bunch and had a baby with an outsider. Has the purge
happened at this point? We’re a little fuzzy on the timing. We
think Ben is going to kill Penny – well, Ben thinks so, too – until he
sees Penny and Des have a son. Ben shoots Des in the milk and then
decides not to kill Penny. Des kicks his ass and tosses him in the
ocean. Smoke Monster: Locke
pushes Ben to atone for his sins with the smoke monster. Ben doesn’t
know how to find him, but all-knowing Locke knows where he hides out. Smokey
swirls around Ben and makes him feel bad for causing Alex’s death. Then
the monster turns into Alex! She pushes Ben around and tells him not to
kill Locke again and to obey Locke. John Locke: He
sure knows a lot about the island. He doesn’t seem to be able to just
appear in places (like at the donkey wheel), but he does know his way
around. And he’s confident. Ben
tells Sun he’s never seen the island bring anyone back to life. But we
know it happened with Christian. Is Ben lying and trying to plant a
seed of fear or mistrust in Sun toward Locke? Or, is he being honest? The new castaways: Adios, Cesar. Ilana
is not a bounty hunter. That chick is working for Widmore! She has guns
and a giant crate and if you don’t know the answer to the question:
What stands in the shadow of the statue? you get a gun to the noggin. What does stand in the shadow of the statue??
