Episode Recap First
scene we meet Caroline who is talking with Adelle (the Dollhouse Boss)
about becoming an active for 5 years to get away from her past. Engagement One: A motorcycle race and a dance with “Matt”. The Treatment: Gets
wiped. Seems to be without care or personality. Not even any Caroline
in there. Doesn’t realize she crashed a motorcycle on her leg. Engagement Two: Kidnapper
Negotiator. The imprint is flawed because the negotiator was once
kidnapped by Mr. Sunshine. Mission Fails then Echo’s handler Boyd
pushes Adelle to let them do something good – and they go save the
girl. Sierra kicks some ass. Communal shower! Also—FBI Agent Ballard confronts a Russian in the bathroom with a gun whilst he pees. (spoiler alert—the peeing Russian is active VICTOR)Echo Victor Sierra Episode 1
From the Delta Park Prime Forums: SuperFan Ingersonian SuperFan Fred SuperFan Blueline ALSO - It is good. Not great… nothing close to BSG,
Lost, Office…. more like Ghost Whisperer good. I like it in the same
way that I liked last year’s Bionic Woman. If it wasn’t Whedon, I would
unsubscribe to this show… not DVR worthy. But I will cut the show a lot of slack and give it a few more weeks. SuperFan Mike
- Likes that the imprints are based on humans, so they could be flawed.
-
I was not completely disappointed or thrilled by the first episode. It
was a good story, and seems to be a great opportunity for the actors
playing “actives” to show their acting chops
-
The most annoying part of her character is that whenever her
‘treatments’ erase her memories, she is trying to pull off a “I have a
blank slate and don’t have a clue what’s going on” look. I know that’s
what they are shooting for here… but she is pulling it off so well that
it is kind of disturbing. What if someone told you “okay on
this
next scene, act really stupid”… after the scene, the director tells you
“great job, you nailed it, very natural” I am not saying that Dushku is
naturally stupid, in fact I love her tough and witty characters that
she has played. I just don’t like cringing during the walking blank
slate zombie scenes.
- if we the audience are meant to fall
on
the side of “this is wrong and we should root for the actives to regain
their memories”, which is more than likely if the show’s going to grow,
then we’re not likely to have any sympathy for anyone working at the
Dollhouse. But we’ll see. There’s only been one episode so I guess it’s
a little too soon to judge!
